I am wondering if you can help me with the selection of a crape myrtle. I am looking primarily to get a reliable orange/red fall color and to make sure they are not too large for my front yard. They cannot get too much above 15 feet or they will be in the power lines running to my home.

If you're looking to grow an all-American crop, maybe you should look into growing blueberries. American Indians introduced pilgrims to the berry in the winter of 1620, according to the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council. "Given this fact, it is very likely that the blueberry was present at the first Thanksgiving in the fall of 1621," said Jennifer Schultz Nelson, a University of Illinois Extension horticulture educator, in a press release.

Bond No.9 doesn't miss a beat when it comes to capturing the essence of New York City. High Line, Bond No.9's "first railroad fragrance", takes its cue from the flora on the actual High Line

Now is a good time to have garden soils tested. — Apply a diluted whitewash made from equal parts interior latex paint and water, to the southwest (sunny) side of young fruit trees to prevent winter sunscald injury. — Bury root crops such as carrots, radishes, beets and turnips under a deep layer of leaves or straw just before the ground freezes.

A good background is critical to the success of almost any composition. I learned just how important back in the day, when I was a newspaper photographer working the trenches at several big-city dailies. For those of you who may not remember newspapers, which are, tragically, soon to be extinct, let me remind you that they covered everything.
